Gorgeous sword, imperfect design Mar 07, 2008
By Col. Sanders The tip of the blade is EXTREMELY SHARP while an inch or so below the tip, the rest of the blade is sadly, not.
While the sword itself is gorgeous, with a very well crafted handle and a gorgeous futuristic design, the only problem that I've had with this piece is small and unsubstantial.
In order to hold the sword in it's nice, sturdy sheath, there is a small metal piece on the hilt that hooks onto a small opening on the sheath. Now the problem is that in some instances, when pressing the button to release the sword, the button will stay down and the small metal gook will stay down as well making it difficult to lock without prying it with a screwdriver. While this is not a major inconvenience to me, the sword will stay in the sheath so long as it's not shaken or flipped upside-down. I am NOT SURE if it's a manufacturing defect, or simply damaged somehow in transport, this is still a fine sword.
Perfect for my Sci-Fi Oriental Room Theme Feb 04, 2012
By Delmustator The UC Samurai 3000 Katana Sword is one (1) of a set of three (3) blades in the Samurai 3000 set. I found the blade to be well constructed with a decent edge. The blades are stainless steel so they are NOT meant for real use. The sword feels solid in hand and is fairly well balanced. These are getting harder to find as they are no longer produced by United Cutlery. Get them before they are gone.

"Pa Ha Ha"
I bought it after they had been out for about a year. Blade is almost as sharp as my professional chef knifes.Cute little handle lock is not the best design but fun to watch people try to figure out how to unlock the handle from the scabard and strong enough that it has not broken when they pull on the handle with out pushing the release button. The blade and lock difference between the other review may be a generation issue. I paid about 300.00 for it and I think it is from the second run. Handle is cast from some sort of metal and not light weight. The handle weighs more than the blade which I prefer. I've had it for a few years with only a light coat of oil and no rust stains. Eventhough I used it to prune a couple of trees when I was feeling silly.
