Can't speak for skateboarding, but in derby, these would work well for smaller skaters who struggle to fit into other pads or for those who want good protection without a lot of bulk. Most non-custom pads slip around on my legs because they are too long; these stay in place, I haven't fallen on them yet, or not unintentionally, but I can do knee taps on quad skates without feeling a thing. That's more than I could say about my Pro-Tecs.

They provide good knee protection but one of the pads ripped after only a few practices (use for roller derby). For the cost I expected better quality.

Awesome kneepads, been using them for a couple of weeks for Roller Derby, they fit well and are quite comfortable.

So these knee pads were recommended to me by a derby teammate. She loves them and had knee problems until she used them. Everyone is different with the gear they like. I tried these pads at practice and my knees were black & blue by the end of the 3 hours. I'm sticking to my 187s for practice and I'll use these at the rink to protect me from accidental mishaps.

I have been skating derby for over 5 years and I have only used these pads. They are soft and supportive around your knees and they are not too bulky. I have never had a pair rip or tear ever! I have skinny knees and these stay put. I recommend these to all my skaters. And if you can find them for $25, it's a steal! Buy these with confidence, your knees will thank you!
