Get size 3 (small or medium) for kids who are 12 or below. A teenage will fit size 4 (large). Extra large is for 6ft tall man.

We bought two of these "TMAS Hogu Chest Protectors" for use in our TaeKwonDo sparring practice to allow fairly heavy (but not "full") contact between my son and I. These do provide fairly good protection to the chest, belly, and rib areas but can be hard to get properly adjusted. Here are my observations:
Pros -
+ Sized Correctly; my son takes the #4 (large) and I take the #5 (X-Large), with both covering the important areas
+ Good Protection; while it spreads out the force of the impact fairly well, a very solid hit is still felt (and can hurt)
+ Reversible; red targets on one side and blue on the other, but also good if the cover on one side gets damaged
Cons -
- Hard to Adjust; has a tendency to ride up around the neck, I am tempted to cut the elastic "X" band and more length
Misc -
* As expected, this is a little stiff and might hinder more energetic martial artists (but certainly not me)
* Have reasonable expectations; these will not absorb the full force of properly thrown sidekick (trust me on this)
We are very happy with these protectors and they have allowed for a new level of intensity in our training.

Good chest protector, however it chokes a lit bit - too tight on the top. I wish they add ability to change size of X - straps on the back, so we can do it more loose. But overall it's good. And you don't wear it all the time anyways.

Bought for my 8 year old son. a little hard to put on but it fits good. protects the body well. does what it surpose to do.
