Fighting axe? Jun 28, 2008
By Big Fred
"Big Fred"
I have been a fan of Cold Steel products for over 30 years. So when I began my search for a fighting axe I naturally ordered this product. The overall look is good but the feel is not, at least for me. It feels light. The wood handle seems just a bit short and I am suspect about the way it is attached to the tomohawk head. I would not feel confident in throwing this item. The axe blade is short and only rough ground on the leading edge. For a fighting axe I would expect some upper and lower edges to the blade as well. The pick blade is sharp but the grind is uneven and looks poorly done. The leather scabbard is a complete waste of material. Attached to a belt, it would be virtually impossible to get the axe out of the top opening scabbard with one hand in a hurry. This is why I have to rate a Cold Steel product at only 3 stars. While it is better than most of the other advertised tomohawks, it is not my number one pick. It is a strong number 2 though.
