great start for your basic workouts! Jun 08, 2010 this bag has been fantastic from the jump! it arrived on schedule and i filled it up the first night (sand). absorbs kicks, jabs and straights pretty well. my only problem is that it's not great for hooks, knees or uppercuts but that's ok because i knew what i was getting when i bought it. you can work on basic combinations and technique and it's great for cardio. it moves around a bit when hit but that's actually a fantastic way to keep your feet working. all in all it's better than the liquid core bag a thought about purchasing originally. awesome buy and worth every penny. my girlfriend and kids even like working with it!
Great alternative to hanging a bag from the ceiling May 07, 2010 I've had this bag for just under a year and have been a very satisfied customer. The only downfall is that this is not the same as hitting an actual heavy bag. I definately wish I could be striking a a 80+ lb bag but since I have nowhere to hang one and I mainly use boxing for cardio training, this is a great alternative that gets what I need done.

Bag will break in time May 06, 2010 I purchased six of these for a boxing class. We only use the bags about one hour a week. Within the first year, three of the six bags broke. The bags "screw" into the base. The plastic part of the bag that screws in will snap and make the bag useless. The plastic used is simply not durable enough to hold up to strong punches. Being a procrastinator, I waited until after the warranty had expired to contact Century. They told me they were aware of the problem and could sell me a replacement part for $250 and $15 shipping. I purchased the bags for $249 each, so I didn't find this helpful at all. If the bags were more durable, I would purchase more, but until they fix the problem, I would not purchase another Wasemaster XXL.
Great free standing training bag Apr 16, 2010 I would love to have a typical ceiling hung training bag, but that does not work in our basement. I purchased this device along with a BOB. There are advantages to a free standing device, mainly that you don't have to tear your ceiling down and risk damaging your home with repetitive pounding of a heavy bag. A bag stand is cumbersome and is too dangerous when working kicks. Don't want to accidentally kick the metal post. Free standing bags can also be easily moved when necessary.
What I like:
1. Tall size. I'm over 6 ft tall. This bag is perfect. When using BOB, I have to have him up at the highest setting, then I can't work low kicks.
2. Soft padding. Much softer than a typical heavy bag, and is not rubbery like the BOB. After working with the BOB for a while, the skin on my knuckles are raw. The wavemaster is much more comfortable. My wife likes it much better than the BOB.
3. Seems pretty sturdy. Although I've only had mine for a few days, we have some in our Krav Maga class. They hold up well.
4. Plenty stable for us. When filled with water or sand, it's yet to tip completely over. It does tip a bit, then slam back down, making lots of noise unless you are in a basement.
As a previous reviewer noted, the bag shipped with a round, somewhat retro looking logo - not the larger logo as seen in the picture here. If I was to redesign this thing, I'd make the base larger in diameter and shorter. Would lead to a bit more stability.
For those deciding between this and the BOB, I'd say that the BOB makes a much better visual target, but the rubbery texture catches your glove. You'll feel much more fatigue in your knuckles, and your wrists. I'd recommend the wavemaster for frequent training.

Poorly designed training bag Apr 08, 2010 Every time I punch or kick the bag, the damn thing dumps over. I filled the base with sand....it dumped over. Added water in addition to the sand for more weight....Dumped over. Absolutely useless for anyone who knows how to punch or kick. The only way to stabilize the bag is to have someone stand behind it and hold it. The bag itself is far too light (fill with foam pool noodles...What's up with that???). The base is too narrow. I wasted $250.
