This practice Bokken was just the ticket for a 12 year old!! It is nice & strong, yet gentle enough not to hurt too much. It has kept it shape despite numerous assaults on small trees outside. It is light enough to wield easily, and balanced well, too. Great practice piece!

My son loves this product. But you should know it does have a hard inner core with foam over it. So it's not just foam.
